90 km southeast of Shiraz in a space of 58125 hectares lies the Mian Jangal protected region. The flora of this region encompasses 325 species 41 of which are endemic. The fauna consists of 36 mammal species, 86 bird species, 24 creeper species and 4 amphibian species of which 20 bird species and 3 mammal species are endemic in the region and registered in the red list of IUCN. Early in the morning travel from Shiraz to Mian Jangal region (2 hrs). Trail in the region to take photos of the flora and fauna (6 hrs) and then pay homage to Imamzadeh Ismail (1 hr). Return to Shiraz (2 hrs) and visit the Sassanid castle of Sarvestan en route (1:30 hrs).
